Morning Garden Program

A class for parents, grandparents, and caregivers & the children they love

Children in sandbox

The Azalea Mountain Morning Garden is a parent-child program for families with young children who are looking for community and connection in their parenting journey. The parent-child group offers a wonderful bridge between the child’s early life at home and their future entry into school.

Morning Garden is an early childhood education program. It answers the call of families offering support and companionship in the early years of parenting. The program strives to create a nurturing, rhythmical environment for the children as well as time for parents to further their understanding of creating peace in the family through repetition and ritual. This shared space offers parents a time to deepen their own intuitive knowledge and discover new ways of being with their children.

The program offers a supportive environment for parents to explore the joys and challenges of raising young children, to learn simple adult crafts, stories and songs and to joyfully observe young children in movement, play and social interaction.

Some of the topics focused on in the Morning Garden Program are:

Children at crafts
  • Young children learn through imitation.
  • Finding and creating rhythm in the home and school life helps the children feel secure and builds a well of inner self discipline.
  • Children need the protection of the senses in the early years and deserve to be surrounded by goodness and beauty.
  • Children’s play is their work and is an important part of their healthy development.
  • Connecting play to the seasons of the year is wholesome for the young child encouraging a love and respect of our Mother Earth.

We warmly invite you to come learn and experience the beauty of Waldorf parenting. Our morning will start with free-play followed by circle time. During circle time we will sing through the seasons, learn verses and games. Having worked up an appetite we will prepare and share a seasonal snack. After snack the children will be free to explore and play while the caregivers sit down to work on a seasonal craft project and discuss a chosen book with the lead teacher. We will conclude our morning with an oral story and puppet show. Class open to ages 0-3.5.
