Maria Allen is delighted to be the Nursery Lead Teacher at Azalea Mountain School. She has previously served as the Morning Garden and Music teacher at Azalea Mountain, lead teacher at Dandelion Hill Kindergarten, and as a Grades teacher at Winterberry Charter School (carrying a class of children from grades 3-5).  During her time as a Grades teacher, Maria recognized that Early Childhood was the most essential and foundational part of education.  Maria holds degrees in Music Education (Converse College) and Waldorf Education (Taruna College).  

Rebecca_FosterRebecca Foster – Kindergarten Teacher

Rebecca Foster has served as an early childhood teacher within a Waldorf setting for 9 years, beginning as a substitute teacher at the Emerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill, NC. She has taught in a variety of settings including the Emerson Waldorf School and the Eugene Waldorf School,.  Most recently she has been teaching and directing her own home-based, mixed age program; Sun Seeds: A Haven for Childhood, near Pittsboro, N.C. She weaves the joy and magic of imaginative play into a tapestry of stories and songs as she nurtures the children in her care.
 Rebecca also has 17 years experience as an herbalist practicing in the Wise Woman Tradition. She has 17 years experience as a gifted healer working in many capacities including bodywork, doula, and childbirth educator.  She has been a dedicated and devoted mother for 10 years, and motherhood has served as the greatest learning laboratory for her as a teacher as well as an herbalist and healer. Rebecca is especially gifted at serving young children and growing families.
