A vibrant education such as Waldorf is also a center of culture that brings persons of all ages into the school life. Celebrating the seasons throughout the year is part of that culture. We have spent five years collaborating on festivals and gatherings that has drawn together a community in Asheville that shares a love of Waldorf education. We now have a viable, living school in our midst and would love to have you and your child to join us. The approach of Azalea Mountain is based on that of the first Waldorf school: open to all who are interested.
Moreover, a quality education is not a privilege restricted to the few. In structuring our fees, we encourage each family to contribute “the most they are able to contribute.” The remainder of the school’s needs we seek to cover through donations, and we ask for volunteer support as your part in being in community. This is a different approach from paying tuition as the purchase of a commodity for “my child.” Rather, each family’s contribution assures a stable learning environment for all the children. In addition to program fees, families will volunteer a minimum number of hours during the course of the year.
